How to Get the Quickest Quote for Precision Metal Fabrication

When you need a fast quote for metal fabrication, New Hampshire shop Sweeney Metal Fabricators is here to deliver. Our team provides most quotes within 24 hours of receiving a request!

When does a quote take longer than 24 hours? When a customer’s RFQ doesn’t include all the pertinent part information.

To help you get an ultra-accurate quote as quickly as possible, we’ve developed a simple checklist. Provide everything from the checklist, and you’ll have your sheet metal fab quote before you know it.

Your RFQ Checklist for Sheet Metal Fab and More

Here’s everything you need to send our team when you’re ready to get a quote for custom manufacturing services:

RFQ: Request for Quote

There are two ways to request a quote from Sweeney Metal Fabricators.

  1. Secure online form. Use our ITAR-compliant, cloud-based quoting system to upload all your part files and outline every detail of your project.

  2. Email. Write to our team and provide all the necessary information. If your files are too large to send via email, you can instead share a link to the files in your Dropbox, Google Drive, or any other cloud storage system.

Two types of design files

Your RFQ should include two specific files, which will help us create the most accurate quote with no delay.

1. 2D drawing. Upload or attach a PDF of your 2D drawing. Be sure your drawing includes all of the necessary callouts, including:

  • Materials

  • Tolerances

  • Tapped holes

  • Finishing requirements

RFQs that don’t include a drawing often have to be redone once all a project’s details are known.

Another way to avoid re-quoting delays is to send the most up-to-date version of your 2D drawing. If it doesn’t align with the information in your 3D file, we’ll need to reach out to you to resolve the conflicting documentation.

2. 3D solid model. Customers forget to include their CAD files about 30-40% of the time—and this one oversight can have major implications. Used to visually represent your part’s features and to program toolpaths, the solid model is critical to fast and accurate quoting, CNC machining, and sheet metal fab.

Upload, attach, or link to your solid model file to avoid quoting and manufacturing delays. We can open any of these 3D file formats:

  • CSG

  • STL

  • OBJ

  • FBX

  • DAE

  • 3DS

  • IGES

  • STEP

  • VRML or X3D

  • AMF

  • 3MF

Proprietary specifications

Don’t forget to include your proprietary specifications, such as paint callouts!

Quantity and cost targets

Of course, we need to know the number of parts you’re seeking, but we’d also love to know your target price.

No, we will NOT charge you more if you have a larger budget. What we WILL do is notify you immediately if we’re unable to work within your stated budget.

The Sweeney team is committed to providing excellent service—even to those who aren’t our customers. If there’s an extreme difference between your budget and our price, we’ll inform you right away so you can find a shop that’s a better fit for your needs.
